hopefully at sunset
continuing the conversation
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words
but pouring them all right out just as they are, chaff and grain together
certain that a faithful hand will take them and sift them
keeping what is worth keeping and with the breath of kindness
blow the rest away
The Prodigal God by Tim Keller
Do you know what Prodigal means? As in the Parable of the Prodigal Son?
It means extravagant. But the story isn’t about the son who wastes his inheritance. It’s about the Extravagant God that we have who redeems both of His sons: the sensual and the self-righteous.
Tim Keller wrote a book about it. It’s quick. Profound. And life-changing, for me. Keller is helping to so expand my understanding of the Gospel no message I teach in the future will ever be the same.
PS - as a church staff at NCPC (oh yeah, blog world, I’m a youth pastor again - but our website is so horrendous that I won’t post a link!), we’re going through a curriculum called The Gospel Centered Life, which is conspiring with The Prodigal God to change my entire life. More on this later.
